Hemel says the league assessor was present at last nights match, does anyone know if they are at every game or just the selected few, I remember when we played Sutton early on in the season, the guy was being assessed then and made TWELVE bookings, it cost the club then and I think this is the third time this season that we have been fined.
I can accept the bookings for dissent but in a lot of cases this is brought about by the officials, I realise they are there to officiate but sometimes they quite clearly have lost the plot which happened last night, if it had been the Ashford side getting booked un-necessarily I am sure they would have had something to say about it also.

As has already been said by Edam why should clubs get punished for mistakes made by the officials, perhaps the clubs ought to stick closer together and fight some of the outrageous decisions. Who gets the money from the fines dished out, perhaps the referee's get a bonus from the fines pot as an incentive for bad referee's which seem to be common place in our league.
I also feel clubs should have a chance to see the assessors report if it results in them getting fined, if this was to be made more open perhaps players and club officials would start showing more respect to the acting officials.

I think I am right in saying that clubs give their own marks on an officials performance, if that is so then perhaps that is what generates an assessors visit in the first place, one would also hope that these assessors are fully qualified to carry out a fair, unbiased assessment taking both parties into account but as has already been suggested it is most likely to be done in private.

They say there is a general shortage of good referees and that more and more are giving it up because they are fed up with all the complaints coming their way, well last night's ref did nothing to change that and 95% of it was of his own making.
I might suggest he looks for a traffic wardens job as he already possesses all the necessary requirements but if he insists on remaining to be a referee then he ought to go back for a refresher course URGENTLY!! Perhaps he should also be made to sit through a lie detector test with questions set by the offended club.
