I thought we moved the ball around really crisply in the first half, as did Ashford early on, but we got the early goals which made all the difference. The ref was poor, but if some of our players hadn't spent so much time telling him he was poor, he might not have ended up reaching for his book when he shouldn't have. As for the lino! He flagged for a foul for Haddow's second yellow when he clearly got the ball, he called the game back for a throw-on at least ten seconds and three passes after the ball had apparently gone out, and he was at least thirty yards behind play (in front of opposition dug-out) when he adjudged Pelling to have stopped the ball over the line! The league assessor was there, but I should imagine that whatever may be said to the officials in private, they will certainly close ranks in public.

For I'd rather stay here, with all the madmen,
Than perish with the sad men roaming free...
