I can't take issue with the amount of money Palace are likely to make from this deal. A fee rising potentially to £5million over the next few years has to be seen as a fair one. I've no doubt Bostock is outstanding, but then so was young Cohen at West Ham : premiership debut at 16, regular in all the England age-group teams, now in his early twenties and last seen plying his trade at Yeovil. The real shame, as Lukey points out, is that the whole system is skewed in favour of the big clubs. They plunder the small clubs' youth teams, thereby helping to guarantee the status quo, or buy abroad rather than develop their own talent, which is very much to the detriment of the national team. The question is : has anyone got any ideas what can be done about it?
