Posts: 1805 Jan 6 12 6:32 PM Sussex County Div1 Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None could we have a harder game after our great point at lewes? i don't think so and i expect the trawlers to be battling the not police for the title come the end of the season. heard from a few horsham supporters that went up there, that they are a great bunch of supporters and i look forward to seeing them in numbers tomorrow. i thought that the horsham support at lewes was fantastic.it probably helped the team keep going to the very end too. lets keep on supporting them and hopefully the mountain will turn into a molehill and who knows.... maybe our efforts still have every chance of being repaid. if thats the case, it will probably be as good as that day at molesey come the end of season. so who's up for this?!!!!!!!! Fall over or claim a foul at any opportunity to con the ref who was only too please to oblige with a free-kick or penalty (or two!). As for the incident at the end. Williams went for the ball and got to it a fraction after their keeper so went into him. It was certainly nothing that warranted the keeper acting like he'd been shot. Then their players made sure the ref sent Williams off which caused the unsightly scenes. As far as I could tell their players had raised hands and there was a bit from both before another of their players also went down like he'd been shot leading to Senny's dismissal. Never mind that Senny also went down. How none of their playes even got booked let alone sent off for their disgraceful behaviour in that incident is beyond me. The lino was instrumental in the decision to send Senny off as he was with Hugo. You can only assume the Ryman League really don't want us to stay up and have instructed the ref to do everything possibe to make sure we lost as I can think of no other reason why he was so blatantly against us. As for the match we looked 2nd best in the frst haf but kept ourselves in it. 2nd half was more even and George was unlucky with his chip and we also hit the woodwork. Ray took his goal well and we looked like we may get something out of the match. So hard though when you try your best but the ref is against you. Given the supposed gap in playing budgets we didn't do too badly. ------------------------------------ A founder member of the Banner Boys

Posts: 340 Jan 7 12 7:53 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm still counting out loud trying to get the anger and stress out my system on todays display by the cheating Trawler boys and the ref’s display on how to be conned into making bad decisions. The only thing the ref got right today was breathing and the first penalty call, apart from that his performance was a total disgrace to the refereeing profession. The trawlers Boys fair play sunk to new lows in the last 2 minutes when the pressure was on them for a result as we put the pressure on for the equalizer , so they conned the 2 so called contacts and the ref brought it’(lock stock and 2 none contacts) I hope there conscious gets the better of them and they tell the FA they cheated and there wasn’t any contact. Twizzley has never lost his cool before at a football match but the 1/2 Irish boiled over, but when you pay good money to see fair play and football and the trawler cheats do whatever they can to get the points, and at the same time costing the club much needed money in fines, I lost it, I do apologize for the rant but the trawler boys deserved it. Hope they don’t get promotion because I will not be going up to Lowestoft if we do manage to stay up next season, thus not giving them £10 for there gate receipts. I’m still counting out loud and it’s still not working. Lowestoft cheats. On a positive note we were the far better team Hope Tony is ok to. A question for the ref How come when there player passed back to there goalie under pressure when it was 2 -1 and the goalie picked it up, why didn’t we get a free kick (Ref) I tell you why. YOUR WERE USLESS THAT’S WHY Oh I feel much better now typing that out so I shall do it again REF YOU WERE USELESS REF YOU WERE USELESS REF YOU WERE USELESS Now for the heart pressure reading 145 over 176 still not going down. if I die of a heart attack tonight, burie me deep to the lardy song's and huuuugoooooo his gone huuuuuugooooo we go huuuugoooooo lower deep ohhhh

Posts: 126 Jan 7 12 8:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Yes the ref had a bad day,however the first was a pen, after a shocking header across the box by our left back you have to stay on your feet instead of diving in as our player did,so that is a pen. if it had happened at the other end we all would be calling for it. the second pen was an awful decision but just perhaps the ref was trying to make up for his mistake a couple of minutes eariler when he should have awared a pen when the no 10 was clearly brought down in the box. 2 wrongs do not make a right but thats whats happens in football. the keeper made a meal of a challange for the ball by Williams, a fair one at that, but players have to be better than that and not react in the way they did, I believe the straight red was for a punch so no problem with that one. after all refs DO NOT CHEAT, yes they have bad days as today proved but please dont use that as an excuse when we are quite clearly out of our depth. we are county league standard and I know who I blame for that. These players have shown over recent matches that they can get close to other teams. I certainly don't think Lowestoft were that much better than us and I don't class them as county league. Budget wise I agree but I think Hugo and team have done wonders to get players in with the budget they have who have got us even close to competitive. I still think it was pretty much 50/50 in that melee and their players also had hands raised but where as our players didn't look too bothered by it the theirs went down clutching their faces like they'd been delivered a knock out punch. They knew though that the ref would buy it like he did all match when they continuously fell over at each tackle. Can't dwell on this one too much, just got to pick ourselves up and go again next week. ------------------------------------ A founder member of the Banner Boys

Posts: 2115 Jan 7 12 10:50 PM Isthmian Div1 Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I am sorry Ex barman that was not just a bad day for the referee I am afraid but that must be the worst ever attempt at controlling a football match I have ever witnessed, we call for consistency from the men in black, the only thing he was consistent at was being conned by the well rehearsed play acting from the despicable Lowestoft team, why a team sitting in second place finds it necessary to sink to such low levels is beyond me. Last weeks loss at Hornchurch had their own fans bemoaning their managements style of play, the route one they witnessed was supposedly not what they are used to, ok they have cheated their way to three points so perhaps they are happy but I have to say they don't look like a team pushing for Conference football, mind you playing/cheating the way they did today it might be a good thing if they were promoted. Ex barman's comment suggesting we are playing out of our depth, assuming that was based on today's game is harsh to say the least, I didn't think at any time we look outplayed, we created and scored the only goal from open play, had a fantastic shot that cannoned back off the bar and forced their keeper into two superb saves, I don't remember Michael Hunter having to make as many goal bound saves! Our lads put in another 90 minutes effort but were beaten by a team who found it necessary to con the referee who was so gullible he managed to carry out their wishes by using his whistle and cards rather than being professional and consistent.

Good luck to them , maybe there players should look at them as how to behave instead of blatant cheating! 2/3 of there players know how to play the game!

We've had some very poor results this season but we have some quality players in the side and, although it looks a forlorn hope that we might pull off the great escape, I certainly don't think we are as bad a side as you suggest. I don't think we played particularly well today but neither did Lowestoft, a side with a far bigger budget than us and pushing for the title as a result. In fact, I would say there's at least half a dozen sides we've played this season who looked better than them! The first pen was, IMO, indesputable (even if their guy did go down easily) but the second was an absolute joke. Interestingly, the ref gave the 2nd pen about 30 seconds after their number 8 (I think) was in his ear about another decision that didn't go their way. Draw your own conclusions! Even the Lowestoft fans admitted that he had a stinker and I will be fair enough to suggest that he might even have sent Calum off for the first penalty offence. I don't agree with you that refs don't cheat as there's been enough cases to prove that SOME of them do. However, I don't believe today's ref cheated. I just feel he was totally inept and I'm pleased that there was an assessor there today as hopefully that'll be the last we see of him in this league for some time. What really annoys me is the number of clubs that are taking the p!ss this season with their histrionics and 'gamesmanship' which all stems from the Premier League cheats. Constant hounding of the officials, feigning injury, trying to get opponents booked, timewasting etc...Its that sort of shite that stopped me from going to watch Premiership football in the first place. FFS, can we actually have a match in which both sides play the game fairly, cleanly and with some respect for each other?

Posts: 996 Jan 8 12 12:08 AM Sussex County Div1 Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Pity we don't have video coverage anymore as I can't always see exactly what happens in a melee like the fight in the last few moments but what I did recall is that their large goalkeeper went down for about 90 seconds as if he had been polaxed and one of our players was floored - so how did that happen, did he trip himself up, or did a temmate fell him? How come no Lowestoft player even got a talking to? I shouted 'cheat' at the refs at the end as I didn't want to use worse language and get myself/the club into more trouble but I was really sooooo infuriated. JL suggested earlier that "If we could do the same [i.e. hang around at the end to applaud their players off the field] after our win today it would be only fair", it was lucky that they warmed down for so long that I decided to leave to avoid any confrontation, I found I had better things to do on a Saturday evening. At least we won't have to play them again next season (or for quite a long time).

Posts: 126 Jan 8 12 8:50 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	sorry to say that the league table does not lie. we lost to Littlehampton, Burnham, struggled to beat Lingfield and got well beaten against Learherhead. yes I agree that Lowestoft did not look like one of the best teams we have played this season but they have still taken 6 points off us however you look at it. as for cheating, refs do not cheat ,its the players that do that and sorry to say that some refs are not good enough to spot it, or strong enough to punish those that do, like todays. I reiterate what I said before, we are out of our depth and heading for the drop.

Our midfield was brilliant today and Calum Dunne and Wills sood out for me. We played well and could have won the game. The defence is still subject with Calum McGeehan far too slow but he too did not badly today. We have exciting forwards and some of the Trawler boys supporters commented that they were jealous of our pace up front.

In act ypou can see their number 8 shouting and going towards Senny before the incident involving him. I have to add though that despite all this I don't have a bad word at all to say about their fans who seemed like a nice lot and I had a good chat with a few of them. ------------------------------------ A founder member of the Banner Boys

Posts: 90 Jan 8 12 10:14 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	There is a very long and fair report of the match on the Lowestoft Forum, in which they not only praised our team and manager but just as importantly were as equally damning of the referee's performance as we were. Copied here fyi is just one paragraph from from the report: "It only leaves me to end by mentioning the Horsham manager. This guy was very complimentary about Lowestoft FC in the build up to the game. Before, during and after the game he was chatty and a really nice bloke, who's a real credit to Horsham. We had some good banter and he also came into the bar afterwards to not only shake the players hands but to also wish us luck for the season and thank us for the great support we showed today and also showed his team when they visited the meadow. I really wish him and his team all the best, as they showed signs at times that they could get out of their current predicament if they keep at it."

We have to turn the anger into positive energy; if we allow ourselves to feel like victims, then we definitely will go down. But if we consider how often we have run the top sides very close, and then look at our remaining fixtures and see that we still have to play the 8 teams immediately above us, then we can see that there is just an outside chance of turning things around. Ever the optimist... Question : in the absence of video evidence, is there an appeals mechanism for Semy's straight red? Since there was an assessor there, can he be brought into it?
