Thank god I taped it. Just got in and watched it - what a band, what music and what memories.
They just don't make things like that nowadays. Do we have a time for Madness on Sunday? I will want to watch that as well. Who's that handsome chap....up there...to the left? Yep, its Boris Johnson! |

BBC4 19:00 UK time
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00lglfb I presume that you have their latest album "The Liberty of Norton Folgate" one of, if not, their best. Also subjected myself to Lady GaGa before The Specials....... fruitcake anyone. Question is... was she wearing her Alan's?

Must admit i paniced when they played concrete jungle as it just didn't sound good at all, i don't know weather something was awry with the bass but i
was really hoping for an improvement, feck me did we get it! Terry Hall came on and sounded great as ever, played friday night saturday morning, a message to
you rudy, too much too young e.t.c e.t.c really was a great set and was skanking in front of the tv with a beer in my hand whilst watching it.
Previous to this, Lilly Allen was performing whilst wearing an almost revealing ensemble, it would appear her right breast wanted to be free and almost popped out a couple of times, fine work from the BBC to catch it on camera each and every time! Can't beat a bit of Glasters... |

FD, the The Liberty of Norton Folgate is a great album, the Clerkenwell Polka and NW5 have been on my ipod consistently this week!(along with Kasabians new
album which is unbelievably good and i'd reccommend it to anyone)
As for Lady GAGA, i took a fair bit of time out to inspect weather "said area" was covered or not and have come to the conclusion she was indeed wearing knickers. Tease. |

That would explain it Ronlardo! Seemed something had gone wrong rather than poor performance! They pulled it back though! Who needs Jerry Dammers eh?!

I am proud to say The Specials is the first album I ever brought. To listen to them performing again 30yrs on is just awesome.
As for the covers by the likes of Amy Winehouse & Lily Allen, well, the jury is still out as far as i'm concerned. Not sure I could ever get used to them, I think it will always be the originals for me I'm afraid. I'm not knocking Amy & Lily, just stick to your own stuff, they have done far to many covers for my liking.

Horseman, regarding Lily Allen & Amy Winehouse doing too many cover versions, 4 tracks on the first Specials album were cover versions, of old reggae tunes,
it just goes to prove that some songs are timeless classics.

glastonbury is total shite and both the specials and to a lesser degree madness coped out by playing there - i am sure i am alone in this thought though as i
hate festivals, festival goers (sorry beep beep) and bands that sell their ar*e to play in front of a wanky audiences :-)

Ha ha - er no im not but do you honestly think the Specials are suited to out door festivals in front of those sort of audiences - tis just wrong - there are
bands that suit that sort of shite gig and there are bands that dont suit and the Specials dont
fkucing ghost town was perfect when it came out -perfect - now in the glastonbury enviroment is sounds like a sing-along-with the hits- on 45 -with - the Specials nonsense rubbish |

I was talking to my dad about this who had the luxury of seeing the Specials in some very small venues (going to Uni in Coventry was an advantage!) he said the
same thing, the specials are not a festival band, they're much better suited to small venues with a bit of room for skanking, rather than belting out songs
in front of thousands of lemmings and some tw@t waving a pirate flag in your face!
I enjoy watching Glastonbury for the music element, but i agree it sold itself out years ago, sold it's soul to the devil so to speak. Zane Lowe and Lauren Laverne being the most annoying, no nothing heathens on this earth was a particular low point. |

tennis and festivals | ||

I read somewhere yesterday that Wimbledon and Glastonbury are very similar in that 95% of the people who attend these events don't really care about tennis
or music 50 weeks of the year, but simply must go to them to tell everybody they've been, so they can drop it into conversations or mention it on website
forums
Sorry i nearly forgot to mention on this website forum,i Went to Glastonbury in 1983 and 1984 but i don't like to talk about it |
