Has sadly passed away.
RIP and condolences to his family and friends.
His site provided many hours of reading and the non league scene will be poorer without him.

This is very sad news. Condolences to his family and friends. He will also leave a huge gap for those who never met him but spent hours on his site.
It would be nice to think that some of the movers and shakers in the non-league hierarchy could come up with a fitting memorial to him. Something should be named after him.
For I'd rather stay here, with all the madmen,
Than perish with the sad men roaming free... |

Very sad. A damn fine site. And he faced all his troubles like a man. Respect.

Echo what Edam said. His site gave me all the information I needed. Non-League legend.

original [insert name] gonna score the gooooaaaaals

What can I add, a very sad day.
I just hope that, as Hemel has suggested, he gets properly recognised for what he's contributed to non league football over the years. Who's that handsome chap....up there...to the left? Yep, its Boris Johnson! |

How sad, his website was an incredible project I don't know how one man could have done that much, information provided so accurately and fast.
I hope I'm not being flippant when I say that he must have been somewhat satisfied that he was able to complete the 08/09 season's records. |

I have been an avid reader of Tony's website (and the weather in York) for years.
What Tony has acheived is nothing short of brilliance Wouldn't it be great if all non league clubs commemorate Tony with a minutes applause on the opening game of the new season? Maybe we could start the ball rolling with a few posts here and there? |

My thoughts go out to Tony's family at this sad time.
As an occasional user of his site, I was astounded by the breadth and quality of Tony's input. The research was phenomenal, its a pity the money men of the premier league wouldn't let him use their fixture lists. RIP Mr Kempster Good idea SL, a fitting tribute from the fans who used his site Legal downloads are killing Piracy |

I agree with all that's been said - Tony's site was quite remarkable and most certainly a labour of love - he will indeed be very much missed. I am
pleased to advise however, if you were not already aware, that in the NLP's annual awards this year, and just before Tony passed away, he was awarded their
Lifetime Achievement award although sadly he was too ill to travel to Birmingham to receive it in person.

It appears that Tony Kempster's site will live on as a memorial.
A group of volunteers have decided to carry on the work and established a new site which recognises his contribution to non league football. http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk I wish them ever success. |
