Just got in from the game. Frankly we were very poor. Created almost nothing and just resorted (again) to long hopeful balls forward. We made a very average
bottom of the table team look good.
Yinks has torn ligaments apparantly - so I suspect that we won't see him again this season. And to answer the question - no we are far from safe. On current form it is hard to see where any goals will come from and how we are going to win any games. We really can't afford to rely on those below us dropping points - because I can gurantee they won't! I think nails are going to be bitten very short over the next few weeks. |

One good thing to come out of tonight - the Ashford programme pointed out that rule 2.1 of the Sussex County League rulebook permits groundshares.

Difficult to comment on this one, it was not good!!!
However, JM is trying his best with what he has available. Results are one thing, but injuries are another. We must remember some of our players have picked up some nasty injuries this season, their well-being must surely be paramount. Hopefully they will all come back fighting fit for HFC next season. FWIW - Relegated, us, don't be ridiculous. Mathematically, yes it's possible, but teams below us must play each other, or play teams at the top. Realistically there is no chance of us going down, that's my honest belief, and I'm sticking to it.

FWIW, I thought that we competed reasonably well during the first half and might have had a couple of goals but Reggie and Claude are sadly out of form at the
moment and it showed again tonight. I thought that Steve Davies was our best player in the opening 45 minutes and showed the sort of committment and workrate
that, if replicated by a few more of his team-mates, will secure our premier division status.
Yinka's injury must have left the lads seriously demoralised and to concede that fluke of a goal so soon afterwards basically ended the game as a contest. I don't envy John at the moment, that's for sure, but I agree with Horseman in that I don't believe we will go down. Margate and Hendon are a bit of a worry, IMO, but Harlow were deducted 3 points this week and if we were to get a point off them at the weekend then I reckon that should be enough. Neither Ramsgate nor Heybridge can catch us, Boreham Wood travel to Dover on Saturday before facing Hendon and Hastings have a tough run-in with matches against Sutton, Tonbridge, Hendon and Wealdstone. Yep, I'm sure we'll be okay but I don't think the next few weeks are going to see too many smiles around the place !

it's time for the budget to be increased for three weeks and see if we can get any loan players in. we have to stay in this division.

Good thinking JS - we need to keep Stingrae on his toes - I bet he's compiled a database of posters and 'attacks' on him which he can cross
reference against letters to the rag and references to real names. He can then pass it to his charidee connections to ensure that he remains the most righteous
person in Horsho. Not that he likes to talk about it...

I think you were there on Tuesday, and with the current squad situation it is hard to see where goals and points will come from. HH has added a feature to HR I notice that shows the maximum points each team can achieve: http://hornetsreview.co.uk/2008-2009/Tables/First%20team.htm We'll have to hope that teams below us drop points - they probably will - but it is frustrating to have to leave our fate in other's hands. Fingers crossed! |

One question I would like to put forward is, why, if Mark Hawthorn is on the bench every week not putting himself forward to help out with Johns lack of
players, surely his experience would help settle a very young side or does he feel that he would be more of a hindrance than a help ?

He injured himself at work on Tuesday morning..... if he hadnt he would have taken his place on the bench.
